Founders’ Note

Happy Monday! Welcome to the second edition of Psychedelic State(s) of America’s newly-relaunched Monday Newsletter - The Psychedelic State(s) of the Union.

If you’re reading this - first and foremost: thank you for your support!

Psychedelic State(s) of America was founded on a simple premise: democratize psychedelic journalism and in turn fulfill the unmet needs of the increasingly psychedelic-curious American electorate.

You might not know it (yet) - but the political arm of the psychedelic renaissance is one of the most fascinatingly diverse and consequential political movements of the 21st century on a global scale.

Here at PSA media, our goal is to set a new standard for truly independent psychedelic journalism: for the people, by the people.

Through PSA’s Advocacy Spotlight Initiative interviews, dogged investigative reporting in partnership with leading psychedelic media organizations, and broad-ranging media and syndication partnerships with the best and brightest independent voices from across the global psychedelic community — Team PSA is already raising the bar for psychedelic journalism from coast to coast and far beyond.

So, if you support our vision — consider donating to The PSA Media Fund today!

Until next time,

Inside an American Mycelial Revolution

Global Psychedelic Week Starts TODAY!

The Mycelial Revolution: Why Global Psychedelic Week is Decentralizing the Future of Consciousness

By Jack Gorsline

The mainstreaming of psychedelics is here, but the question remains: whose voice will shape this future? As venture capital flows and clinical trials make headlines, there’s a critical need for a movement rooted not just in profit, but in equity, inclusion, and global community.

That movement is Global Psychedelic Week (GPW).

From November 3rd to 9th, 2025, Global Psychedelic Week will once again explode onto the world stage as the planet’s first and largest decentralized psychedelic gathering. Forget the centralized, expensive conferences of the past. GPW is built on the philosophy of the mycelial network itself—a globally distributed, interconnected web of education, healing, and advocacy that spans over 100 countries and unites thousands of participants.

This is more than an event; it's a global declaration that the psychedelic renaissance belongs to everyone.

Seven Days of Transformation: A Thematic Deep Dive

The entire week is structured around seven powerful themes, ensuring a holistic and comprehensive exploration of the psychedelic landscape, from the scientific frontier to the deepest ethical questions.

Monday, November 3rd: Community Day

The psychedelic movement thrives on connection. This day is dedicated to fostering inclusive, safe, and sustainable psychedelic communities. It explores grassroots education initiatives, the power of peer support networks, and vital harm reduction efforts that bridge the gap between underground and mainstream spaces. We celebrate the strength found in "finding the others."

Tuesday, November 4th: Business Day

As the industry matures, ethical entrepreneurship is paramount. Business Day focuses on innovative financing, responsible commercialization, and the frameworks needed to build companies rooted in integrity. Experts discuss how evidence-based approaches can shape the credibility of emerging psychedelic enterprises without sacrificing the movement's core values.

Wednesday, November 5th: Legacy Day

We take a crucial pause to honor the lineage of plant medicine. "Indigenous Perspectives on Psychedelics: Tradition, Appropriation & Advocacy" features respected elders and cultural protectors, such as Tatayo Gabon and artist Olga Mori Díaz, who will share sacred knowledge and discuss the ethical imperative of reciprocity. We explore the profound influence of sacred plants on Indigenous art and design.

Doors open at 6:00 PM EST, with programming starting shortly after. The evening's programming is designed to dive deep into the most compelling and complex topics in the modern psychedelic landscape.

We kick off at 7:00 PM with our first discussion panel:

This timely conversation will examine the deep historical and spiritual roots of psychedelics and how ancient wisdom is navigating—and often conflicting with—modern legal frameworks and contemporary use.

Following a brief intermission at 7:30 PM, our second panel will be: "Evaluating the Modern Psychedelic Landscape" from 7:45 PM to 8:15 PM, featuring Dr. Nese Devenot, Johns Hopkins University Professor and Member of the Board of Directors at Psymposia: a Psychedelic Ethics Watchdog Organization as well as Sabba Nazhand, Founder of Safar- an indigenous wisdom-inspired mental health and wellness platform.

This discussion will offer a nuanced and critical look at the current psychedelic state of affairs, discussing everything from decriminalization efforts and therapeutic advancements to market trends, indigenous reciprocity issues, and psychedelic policy development/reform efforts across the country.
